Aboriginal Community Link

The Department of Energy’s Aboriginal Community Link (ACL) is an interactive mapping website designed to share mineral resource activity information with Alberta’s Aboriginal communities.

The site contains:

  • mineral disposition and access restriction information for a variety of minerals;
  • mineral rights posted for public offerings;
  • Crown mineral ownership;
  • pipeline and facility locations, and well data.

Users can view and print information; however, it does not allow extraction or manipulation of data.  A unique login and password is provided to each community requesting access.  Energy staff provide training and ongoing assistance to communities in accessing and interpreting the information.

The ACL can be a valuable information-sharing tool in Alberta’s consultation efforts with First Nations. The site provides relevant mineral activity information to Aboriginal communities while allowing opportunities to build and strengthen relationships between Alberta and First Nations.
