Training to Employment

One of the key objectives of the Aboriginal Policy Framework is to increase the participation of Aboriginal people in the Alberta economy.  The resource industry is one of the main employers in the province and trained workers will be needed in the years ahead to meet the continued demand for skilled labour.

By building positive working relationships between industry and Aboriginal communities both parties can benefit; employment and business opportunities for Aboriginal Albertans can be increased while the resource industry can fulfill labour needs and improve relations with Aboriginal communities.

Aboriginal Relations facilitates resource industry training and employment opportunities for Aboriginal people through developing partnerships between industry, Aboriginal communities and other government departments, such as Alberta Human Resources and Employment.
