Aboriginal Relations is participating in a cross-ministry consultation initiative, along with the departments of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development, Sustainable Resource Development, Community Development, Environment, and Justice and Attorney General.

Energy's consultation managers work as liaisons with First Nations' communities and the resource industry.

Managers are responsible for:

• ensuring communities receive information about resource development;
• helping communities broaden their understanding of the resource industry; and,
• providing technical guidance to communities that wish to begin, or continue, a traditional use study.
