Natural Gas and Liquids Production
The information provided below is based on data from the Mineral Revenues Information System (MRIS) of the Alberta Department Energy. The information is recorded at the point of determination of the Crown royalty. Both natural gas and liquids production data are described as the process quantity or royalty liable volume. The crown royalty rate shown below includes low productivity well allowance (LPWA) adjustment in the previous royalty system (pre-2009). Starting January 1, 2009 with the introduction of Alberta Royalty Framework (ARF) LPWA was eliminated and the average daily productivity (ADP) became an integral part of the royalty formula for methane and ethane. Other natural gas liquids (propane, butane and pentanes plus) have fixed royalty rates as specified in the royalty regulation.
