What is Bioenergy

Bioenergy is any renewable energy or fuel derived from biological sources. Alberta has several potential bio-feedstocks including agricultural products (such as corn or canola), forestry waste and livestock waste. As this renewable form of energy is an important addition to of our energy portfolio, the Alberta government created the Nine-Point Bioenergy Plan to encourage investment in Alberta’s bioenergy market to create a long-term, sustainable industry.
