Associations

There are numerous associations and organizations throughout Alberta, Canada, and the world, which may be of interest to you for further information on Bioenergy.

 

Alberta Biodiesel Association (ABA)
The (ABA) is a non-profit organization established to promote the use of biodiesel through education, outreach and regular meetings.  The association facilitates exchange of relevant information with other interested organizations and encourages the use of biodiesel as a viable alternative source of renewable energy benefiting economic development and environmental sustainability. 

Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA)
Founded in 1994, the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of renewable fuels for transportation through consumer awareness and government liaison activities.

Canola Council of Canada
The Council is a national, nonprofit association funded by stakeholders in the canola industry. Their mission is to enhance the industry's ability to profitably produce and supply seed, oil and meal products that offer superior value to customers throughout the world. Members include canola growers, crop input suppliers, grain handling companies, exporters, processors, food and feed manufacturers and governments.

US National Biodiesel Board (NBB)
The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) is the national trade association representing the biodiesel industry in the United States. Biodiesel is a domestic, renewable fuel for diesel engines derived from natural oils like soybean oil, and which meets the specifications of ASTM D 6751.

US Renewable Fuels Association (RFA)
As the national trade association for the U.S. ethanol industry, the RFA promotes policies, regulations and research and development initiatives that will lead to the increased production and use of fuel ethanol. RFA membership includes a broad cross-section of businesses, individuals and organizations dedicated to the expansion of the U.S. fuel ethanol industry.

Natural Resources Canada - Alternative Fuels
Learn how using alternative fuels can improve your vehicle’s efficiency, save money and help protect the environment.

Life Cycle Analysis - Transportation fuels
The GHGenius model has been developed for Natural Resources Canada over the past eight years. It is based on the 1998 version of Dr. Mark Delucchi’s Lifecycle Emissions Model (LEM). GHGenius is capable of analyzing the emissions of many contaminants associated with the production and use of traditional and alternative transportation fuels.

Environment Canada - Clean Air Act
The Government of Canada tabled on October 19, 2006 the Canada's Clean Air Act to help protect human health and the environment by taking an integrated approach to reducing emissions of both air pollutants and greenhouse gases.

National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL)
NREL is America's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development (R&D).  The laboratory directly contributes to US goal for finding new renewable ways to power homes, businesses, and cars.
