Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) Act
In 2007 the province introduced legislation to promote efficiency in Alberta’s energy regulatory system. The Alberta Utilities Commission Act, which came into effect on January 1, 2008 separated the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) into two separate regulatory bodies—the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) and the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC).  (May 2009)

Bill 50, Electric Statutes Amendment Act, 2009
Under Bill 50, the Electric Statutes Amendment Act, 2009, the Government of Alberta will have the responsibility for identifying which transmission infrastructure is needed, while the regulatory process will continue to address public concerns as to where transmission facilities are located.  (September 2009)

Heartland Transmission
As a result of growth in our province, there is a significant need for new transmission lines to move power from where it is generated to all Albertans who use it. (November 2009) 

Micro-Generation
Alberta’s Micro-generation Regulation is the set of rules that allows electricity customers to generate their own environmentally friendly electricity and receive credit for any power they do not use and send into the grid.

Regulated Rate Option(RRO) 
The new RRO will be made up entirely of one month forward hedges. It will vary by the month, similar to regulated gas rates. The RRO provides an option to consumers while encouraging the development of the competitive market and greater choice for customers. (June 2009)

Regulated Rate Option Charts
The Regulated Rate Option (RRO) offers residential, farm, irrigation and small business consumers the opportunity to receive electricity service at a regulated rate during the transition to a competitive retail electricity market. Transmission
Transmission lines move power from where it is made—generated—to where it is needed. Alberta’s transmission system is aging, congested and inefficient. The need for major new transmission is critical. (September 2009)

New Generation Brochure
Alberta's competitive power industry is attracting developers and investors who see opportunities for new power generation in the dynamic and diversified Alberta economy. New Power Generation in Alberta is designed to give developers an overview of the process of gaining approval for new projects or expansion of existing generation. [2004]

Alberta Distributed Generation Interconnection Guide
The Alberta Distributed Generation Interconnection Guide provides guidelines for connecting a generation facility to the Alberta Interconnected Electric System (AIES) via a Wire Owner's distribution system, and assists in determining the technical and operating requirements of the facility.
