CCS Fund information
The Government of Alberta is investing $2B in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
$2 B in funding for Carbon Capture and Storage was announced in July 2008. Government requested Expressions of Interest and the projects that most closely fit the guidelines were asked to submit Full Project Proposals. The goal of the funding is to reduce emissions at facilities such as coal-fired electricity plants and oil sands upgraders by up to five million tonnes annually starting in 2015.
