Split Title
- Split Title - This document provides information on split title mineral ownership and some potential issues relating to CBM development.
- EUB* Decision
In Decision 2007-024 the EUB confirmed that 28 CBM well licenses and related approvals in split title situations were properly issued to the natural gas holder. In its decision, the EUB acknowledges the ultimate authority to decide ownership of CBM on split title lands will be the courts.
*Note: On January 1, 2008, the Alberta Utilities Commission Act
split the EUB into two new regulatory bodies, the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) and the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC). The ERCB is responsible for the development of Alberta’s oil and gas resources and the AUC is responsible for the distribution and sale of electricity and natural gas to Alberta consumers.
