Coalbed Methane Consultation Information Sessions
Community information sessions
In Spring 2004, information sessions gave over 700 Albertans interested in CBM development an opportunity to learn more about the resource, local development, regulations and the consultation process. Those in attendance were also invited to share suggestions and provide input on CBM issues.
Sessions were held in Rocky Mountain House, Wetaskiwin, Stettler, Barrhead, Strathmore, Drayton Valley, Grande Prairie and Pincher Creek and other communities where CBM activity was ongoing or expected.
The synopsis provides highlights of the information sessions while the information session summary answers questions raised throughout the eight information sessions. Accompanying these documents are Appendix A - handouts, posters, maps and documents available at the information sessions and Appendix B - evaluations of the public information sessions.
NOTE: This document is NOT the Coalbed Methane (CBM)/Natural Gas in Coal (NGC) Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Committe's (MAC's) Preliminary Findings or Final Report document.
The MAC aimed to address all of the CBM issues and concerns brought forward to date and has communicated issues identified during the information sessions to the working groups. To ensure the consultation was thorough, the working groups and MAC requested and received more time.
The MAC appreciated the interest shown by Albertans in CBM development and forwarded issues and concerns identified during the information sessions to the four working groups on Surface/Air, Water, Mineral Land Tenure and Royalty.
