Reports

Mineral Assessment Reports   (Alberta Geological Survey - AGS)
This is a link to public mineral assessment reports listed on the web site of the AGS, a branch of the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board. These reports  are prepared and submitted by mineral exploration companies as a requirement of holding a metallic and industrial mineral permit in Alberta. They are kept confidential for one year, and then made public so data and results can be accessed to further the discovery of mineral deposits.

Mineral Development Strategy
Alberta's Mineral Development Strategy 2002 provides a framework that outlines the vision, goals and strategic direction for orderly, environmentally mineral exploration and development in Alberta. It was developed by the Alberta Government in consultation with stakeholders to enhance the potential for economic benefit to Albertans through discovery and development of base and precious metals, gemstones, industrial minerals and other solid minerals in Alberta.

Minerals and Metals Sector  (Natural Resources Canada)
This is a link to the web site of Natural Resources Canada  (NRCan), a ministry of Canada's federal government. NRCan publishes a variety of key reports relevant to the minerals sector, covering such topics as geological studies, exploration, mining policies, mineral sector economics and statistics.

This pamphlet published by the Alberta Geological Survey (Alberta Energy and Utilities Board) provides an introduction to kimberlites, the most important primary rock type where diamonds may occur, and the potential for significant diamond deposits Alberta.

This online brochure is for individuals interested in gold panning and other forms of recreational placer mining along Alberta's rivers and streams.

Alberta Geological Survey  (AGS)
Geological maps made are available for viewing and sale at the Alberta Geological Survey (AGS.) Maps may be available separately or as part of reports prepared by AGS or submitted by mineral exploration companies as part of their mineral assessment reports.
