Environment

The Oil Sands Division of the Department of Energy is committed to the rapid development of environmental solutions for oil sands projects. We have provided information related to environmental issues on our Facts and Statistics page.

Environmental regulation and administration is provided by the Department of Environment and the Department of Sustainable Resource Development. Each of these sites provides comprehensive information regarding environmental policy in the oil sands areas of Alberta. More information is also available from the ERCB.

Information is also available that relates specifically to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
